I have seen pretty strange sandwiches here. Today the kinder kids were making a snack. Mayo, jam, and banana slices on bread. Yuk.
This is not some thing for me to copy. |

| The three main foods I can't stomach are odaeng, ppondaeggi, and beets. Just about anything beats that. Oh, and one more thing I hate are those disgusting sea squirts. My school put those in the soup at lucnh one day and they ruined the entire soup. When you bite them, some stuff squirts out of them. I guess it's ink. Hence the name, sea squirts. Yuck!!! |

| I made blt's at school the other day and one of the teachers put jam on her bread. I told her to put some ketchup on it but she was all about the jam. Blech. |

| Tosutuh seems to be about the only type of sandwich that is not inundated with jam. Though, it's usually fighting a losing battle with thousand island sauce. |

Last week I was checking out the cafeteria menu (at my work) for the week. I don't eat breakfast here, but sometimes they have "western" items that are fun to look for. Last Thurs., the "western" breakfast was a hamburger and corn flakes. I didn't bother to check the other side dishes...
P.S. Qinella, tell them no sauce-uh when you order toast. It's a sure way to get a fresh sandwich, too. |

Someone had an interesting theory that Korean interpretations of western foods is either:
1) is not cooked according to recipes but done merely from photographs ("Hmmm... is that whip cream on that cake or mashed potatoes? Well, we got some potatoes handy so why not...")
2) follows the japanese model where products using flour are made for aesthetic purposes versus taste. Cherry tomatoes and creamed sweat potato just look good on cake... |

Haha.. that does not work for me! I even say it in Korean. Sosuh bbae juseyo. The look at me like they can't believe it, then confirm it to me. I confirm. I get the tosutuh and.. enough sauce to feed a thousand islanders!
