| I just flew to the U.S. today and found out that they no longer give free beer & wine on international flights. You have to pay $5 a beer and if you don't have American cash, you're out of luck. Pinheads! |

| Considering that my upcoming NWA flight to Seattle is $300 cheaper than the equivalent Korean Air direct flight and $200 cheaper than an Asiana flight via San Francisco, I think I can pop $5 for a glass wine when I want it. It would be nice to have free booze, but against other considerations, it's not a big deal. |

| I posted this mainly to give people a "heads up". Yes Northwest is significantly cheaper, so I guess we can bear paying for our own beers. But for anyone going to Canada via North West, I want to remind you that Northwest doesn't take anything but U.S. dollars, so don't forget to get a little U.S. dollar beer money at Incheon airport before you fly out. |

I swear on my NW flight from Tokyo to US, they took yen or US. If you fly Seoul to Tokyo they take won, yen, and us. $5, 5,000 won, or 500 yen.
500 yen = $4.12
5000 won = $5.31
5000 won = 646 yen
646 yen = $5.32
If the Tokyo to US route takes yen, and you got some yen kicking around, then it's much cheaper to drink on that. |

I flew NW for several years and just came here on a free ticket- on Korean Air! 60,000 miles and they partner with KAL. Chicago - Seoul non-stop , free this time. My girlfriend is coming over next month on Korean, $1100 US for a 3 week ticket. They are expensive. |

northwest and delta have been charging on international flights for a couple years now.
united still gives free drinks on north america-asia flights (at least they did in sept).
the only reason to fly northwest is if you have a bunch of miles with them or the ticket is a lot cheaper. that is the only reason. service sucks and everything else. if you're looking for service or free drinks, fly jal or cathay or singapore or most of the asian carriers ... well, maybe not chinese airlines. |

yeah, they better not change anytime soon. Knowing my luck they'll become like NWA right before I use them in April. |
