http://www.gokorea.info/resources.htm

I've found a permanent home for my "CCG" style card game (in the spirit of Magic or Yu-gi-oh) where you use monster nouns, attack verbs, white magic articles, black magic prepositions, and grey magic adjectives to kill the other team. The rules are a lil complicated but it's a good way to kill time with a group of late elementary or middle schoolers. The game scales reasonably well to larger classes.

Anyway, check 'er out.

Will I have to drop 1600$ for a Lotus and a set of Moxen again to teach English here? Sounds interesting, I'll have to take a look at it. Is it something boys and girls can both enjoy? I only ever saw two or three girls playing MTG back in the day.

I mostly see boys with the Yu Gi Oh cards but a game is a game. Usually the girls don't mind a break from study to play a game.

Nope...Nor Alpha alas.

I remember when a Shivan dragon was more valuable than a mox.
Nobody knew what they were back then.

Ah, Magic the Gathering. ^^ I remember buying a Library of Alexandria for $15 and everyone calling me crazy.
I saw a mint Beta Black Lotus selling for $3200 on e-bay the other day. Sold my absolutely mint one for $400 about 9 years ago. Oh well. Razz
Love those Alpha cards though. I am currently making a deck of them as a pet project. If anyone wants a game, I know a few other people that play as well...

My cards are in Canada. They've been sitting there gathering dust.
Next time I go back I might make a bunch of decks for kids. Sounds like a good class idea to me.

To keep the geekness factor of this thread up...anyone every play any RPGs?

Start a game with one of your classes...you will not believe it.

Teacher...fantasy RPG??? No computer? How? Impossible!!!!
Paper and dice? Teacher crazy!!!!!!!!

About 6 years ago I had an advanced class 3 times a week, played AD&D with them. The other two hours a week were hell for the other teachers. They eventually traded me and I 'taught' these kids every day of the week.

Best class ever.

Good Ol' Magic the Gathering. Anyone play online? I do off and on. Here is a question, where can I buy MTG in Korea? I'd really like to know and yes if I can piece together a deck here in Korea I'd be up for a few games. To keep this somewhat on topic, how long does it take to teach the kids the game? I can't see being able to spend a class to teach them.

I know I can't get away with that in class lol, but I'd love to bring the joys of 20sided dice and critical hits to Korean kids. "now kids, figure out your armour class before we start combat...." Laughing

The one I know of is in Seoul. You take the subway to Seoul National University of Education (Green line). Find exit 13 and go out. As soon as you get out of the exit, make a "U" turn and walk over to the Starbucks. Make a right and walk straight for a couple of blocks (3 or 4) - you'll pass a Tom Toms coffee. The store is called Inter Hobby and it'll be on your left.
