|
|
Hi,
Just got a question. Does anyone know if the phone number for the labour dept is a national number or a regional number? Do I have to call a regional office or a national office?
Do you have to give them information in writing or is a verbal explanation acceptable?
Thanks for answering the questions. Just getting ready for the expected B.S. that the Manager has hinted to me is going to come from the owners. |

The number 1350 is a national number. If you are calling from a regular landline just dial 1350 and press 7 for English.
I think, but don't quote me on this, if you are calling from a mobile phone you need to dial 02 followed by 1350, but I am not sure.

Thanks for that. I just wanted to make sure. I thought I had read that before, but most people seem to reside in Seoul. I just wanted to make sure and not waste time if I had to speak direct to my region. |

I am sure they will be able to answer any query you may have regarding Korean Labour Law

Tried this number on a landline. It didn't work (just started beeping wildly once I hit the 3). Does anyone know if there is any other numbers to be pressed?
It looks like I am going to get the goodbye screw that you get from some Korean hagwons. Its probably not worth fighting it as they can ruin your life and make it more expensive in other areas.
Though the notion of just rolling over and biting the pillow, doesn't sit well with me. |

Maybe you just need to dial 9 to get an outside line. I've tried it from a landline outside of Seoul(Daegu) and it has worked. 1350. It works from cell phones also, no need to dial 02. If your telephone isn't the problem, then I have no idea what is.
I think they are open from 10-6 or something. I'm not sure about when the lines open (9 or 10) but they shut down at 6. They also take a lunch break from 12-1. I've called this number too many times but never early in the morning. Good luck! |

Thanks for that. It turned out to be the phone and not the number. I got through to them, though have to wait until the boss screws me before I can do anything and then it will probably end up in a civil court if I push the issue.
Its a hassle, though not enough money to go to court over and so I am hoping that they do the right thing or that the phone call from the Labor dept pushs them to do the right thing without it going any further.
Just have to wait and see, though I see it going bad regardless as they have used questionable accounting prior to this, though it wasn't enough to get the knickers in a twist over. It did make it obvious that they consider it standard practice to take it as far as they can to the screwing.
I have been screwed before, so know the feeling, its just the lack of respect and trust that makes it worse. |
