Not secularism, but interactive pluralism - at least that idea was a prevalent among scholars and journalists who convened at a Pew Forum conference in Key West, Florida, last month. The main focus was on globalization and religion...

Some of the nation's leading journalists and distinguished scholars gathered in Key West, Florida last month for the Pew Forum's biannual Faith Angle Conference on religion, politics and public life.
Peter Berger, professor emeritus of religion, sociology and theology at Boston University, examined the globalization of religious pluralism and how the peaceful coexistence of different racial, ethnic and religious groups has become a global phenomenon. He argues that pluralism - not secularization - and the resulting emergence of religious choice is the best model for understanding religion in a globalizing world. Well, 'interactive pluralism' is working out pretty well in Iraq, wouldn't you say? I think most Iraqis would agree that things are much better now than under their previous secular government. |

Seriously though. Who has a message for world peace? Buddhism/secularism will be the end days world religion. The more the world is in war, the more influential the message of the Dalai Lama is going to be. |
