I'm planning to come to Korea and have just seen an ad for a job which requires "a criminal record"!!! I guess that one's out... I can only assume they are referring to a police check or somesuch. Does anyone know how to go about getting one if the point of hiring is not one's own country ie: without having to travel back home? Can you do it through your embassy? Do you need a "criminal record" from all the countries you've lived/worked in? Do all jobs in Korea require this? Is the bureaucracy involved too much for a mere mortal to stand? |

I have never been asked for a criminal record after a good few jobs. I think they are rarely asked for.
(Whoops! Did I end that statement with a preposition? What was I up to?) |

It's a standard requirement of many public school districts these days (e.g, Busan, Changwon, rural Jeollanamdo to metion three I know about). |
