Of course. It's income. Income tax applies.

It states in my contract that tax is payable on your severance pay.

I didn't pay tax on my severance pay. Wait and see or call the Labour Board on 1350 and see what they say.

I didn't either but my boyfriend did and I was trying to figure out which one was right. It would make sense that you would pay taxes on it as it is income but...

Another thread said that severence is taxed separately from regular income and the first 300,000 is exempt.
