Moe. is visiting our neighbour(japan) in april. Why is Korea never on any bands tour.

I guess they would only come to Korea if I listened to a band that played lame ballads or something!

Is anyone going to make a trip to Japan. What is the Cheapest you can get to Japan (yokohama) for?

I love Moe and would love to catch em too! There is a popular UK band that I am friends with the lead singer. They are signed by Sony, and because of that they play Osaka and Tokyo every second year. Its sort of a meet and greet for the executives and maybe some meetings and ideas to fill in. I asked him about Korea and he said as much as he would like to play, the sales are not here.
Korea is the king of no copyright! And with that, not many sales. As well he said that his band are super popular in Japan and with that shows always sell out.
As much as Moe rock, how many Koreans do you think know of them. Next to none I would guess. I once asked my students if they knew who Pink Floyd is. 0! RadioHead...0...then I said "You know, Creep!" "AHHH yes teacher, singing room song, very popular in Korea!" Enjoy the show bro...what are the details? Any Fukuoka gigs?

Didn't clapton just play in Seoul? Also Oasis, Metallica were here last year. And there was a huge festival over the summer with Franz Fernidad, Audioslave, Black Eye Peas, etc...

Dude i didnt say no one plays here...its just not worth it most of their time. As well, it seems getting a visa on top of everything to come into Korea and do a gig here is pretty hard. Just ask the owners of M2.
Korea is also very much into their own and not going beyond the border when it comes to music.

Check out www.pollstar.com and type in Tokyo and then type in Seoul. No comparison.

Not enough Korean fans to fill a decent sized hall. Took my ex- to see Ricky Martin for her birthday at Chamsil Stadium. Couldn't even fill half the seats in the field, never mind the stadium seating around it.

I would imagine taking the ferry across to fukuoka, and using a 7(?) day JR Rail pass to travel around by train to Yokohama is cheapest. That's about 300-350,000. Plain to Tokyo is probably more than that.

No idea who Moe is.

Korea is a small country and there isn't much of a music scene outside of Seoul, so it's not really profitable for a band to come here. The best way to do it is to book the band to tour Japan and fly over to Seoul for one weekend.

I'm bringing the Slackers over in March. It's teaching me a lot about what needs to be done, but it's not hard. You just put your ass on the line, pay for tickets, book the shows, and hopefully everything falls into place. It takes a lot of support, which I'm getting thanks to good friends.

I think a lot of it also has to do with the huge pain in the ass that it is for foreign artists to legally perform in Korea. There's a lot of red tape and in the end a lot of bands who would otherwise give it a shot just say forget it.

moe. are great, one of the better live bands I've seen.. I won't cross out going to Japan to see them! That said, I just got back to Korea and don't know what my schedule will be like by then. But I'll keep it in mind! www.moe.org for the curious.

Korea gets the odd good live show.. Mostly DJ's though, as you've probably noticed. Last year I saw: Branford Marsalis, James Brown, Mono (f'n awesome), John Scofield, DJ Shadow, DJ Andy Smith (from Portishead), Peter Kruder (of Kruder & Dorfmeister).. DJ Czech, a great breakbeat dj from Vancouver, is coming here on Feb 17th.
