This is a quick one: do I need to bring a power converter/changer so that I can plug my USA products into Korean outlets or are these typically provided in the apartments or readily available around town?
Just trying to be as prepped as possible! |

IF you're talking about the little plastic adaptors....I don't think they're provided, but they're much cheaper here. |

Save the weight for something else. You can get them there. You might be able to get one from a teacher who is leaving. This is what I did. |

Just remember the power differences North america/Japan 110V rest of the world 220V (more or less)
power adaptors- a small plastic device that changes the prongs of the power cord. weight 100grams
Power converter- a large box (about the size of a shoe box) that weighs several kg. Used to change power from the international standard 220-240V to the north american standard 100-120.
If your device can handle 240V you can get away with just an adaptor. things like laptops or things with that heavy box thing in the power cable should have writing on the bottom, if it says 100-240V (or similar) your fine.
If you need a converter get one here they are heavy, save the weight for something else. Getting a adaptor before you go would be a good idea as it will be hard to find even normal stuff for the first few weeks/months.
Hope this helps, this question comes up often |

What electronics are you bringing?
Many of the ELECTRONIC items are dual voltage (laptops, chargers, etc) and can handle both voltages. Look at the small print on the bottom of the device, it should read something like 110-240v 50/60hz.
If you are bringing curling irons, hair dryer, etc, you can get them here for $5-20 and not have to worry about a power converter/transformer/adapter and save your weight/space. |
