North Korea is willing to pay more than South Korea. Shocked

South needs to keep up with the North.

They don't want you to see anything that they don't want you to see. North Korea is very secretive state. Cool

A lot more.

They'd probably be throwing in dinner and nightly disco too.

Like, where else are you gonna go?

What would you do on your day off in Pyongyang though? You wouldn't be able to go off on your own.you possibly wouldn't even have access to the local currency.

Seriously, that is AMAZING! If I were qualified, I'd be applying right now instead of writing this. What a bizarre opportunity.

Call me crazy, but I don't want to have anything to do with a nation that systematically tortures, rapes, and murders its own citizens for political reasons, nor a nation that keeps its people in abject poverty while the stark raving mad leadership enjoy Western luxuries, not to mention abundant amounts of food. And let's not even get into the issue of North Korea kidnapping foreign nationals and holding them against their will for God knows how long.

5 months -- no sweat. What an opportunity. One year would be like prison though.

A friend of mine who did a stretch in the peace corps told me about a friend of hers who was working in north korea for some aid group. He really misses the place.

do gooders....

You're not crazy in my books- I agree wholeheartedly. This is also why I wouldn't teach in China.

Arar has subsequently extorted 11.5 million dollars from the Canadian government.

He looks pretty healthy in that picture. For 11.5 million I would go to Syria and let them torture me for a year, if I come out of it that well.

Sad

I wouldn't. He's probably mentally screwed up for life. Imagine having to carry those memories for the rest of your life.

I'd take a car-battery to the *beep* for a cool million. Anything beyond that -- I'll pass. Some things are beyond what can be bought and paid for.

here's a link to a guy who worked in Pyeongyang in the 1980s. Interesting read. Very bitter towards the end and understandably so.
