|
|
I'm buying a HDTV next month, probably a LCD. I'm thinking either Samsung, LG or Sony. Size preference is 32". Which is the best model sub 1,500,000 won for a Xbox 360?
I'm looking for a sub 12 ms response time , 720p and 1080i capable, Component and HDMI inputs, high contrast ratio etc.
On a separate note, will Lotte Mart or E-Mart accept checks from an ATM or will a need a huge wad of cash?
Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated, sarcasm and dry wit are also welcome. |

I'm interested in this too. My wife and I agreed today that if I put off my planned computer upgrades, we can get a 32" LCD or Plasma (I've read that LCD is better).
We were looking today and there were several models from both Samsung and LG that were right around 1,000,000 won.

I bought a 37" HDTV last year and am very happy with it. If I had to choose all over again I would buy a bigger one if I were going to use it only to watch movies and play computer games. I'm sitting a bit further away from it to use it as a monitor anymore (unlike my previous 30" monitor which was only a feet away).
According to feedbacks, Sony has the best HDTVs. They've also implemented something called Wide Colour Gamunt Back Light which is suppose to add quite a bit of depth to the usual LCD colouring by quite a bit especially green). This of course could be some marketing BS like IPS, EPG etc, but I think Sony monitors do display some of the best images I have ever seen.
Are you sure the XBOX 360 can output games to 1080i/p? I thought only the PS3 can do that.
I believe Lotte/Emart allow you to use ATM/checks. |

Xbox 360 can do 720p, 1080i but not 1080p which the PS3 can do, although no games currently support it. 1080i was included in a hardware update for the 360 a while back I think.
I'm a bit reluctant to trust Sony as they've been on a downward slump recently. On a plus note I saw 32" LCD Sony Bravia for around 1.2 million that seems to have English menus. Will the Samsung or LG TVs have English menu options? |

I think the other two should have English menus.
For the 360, is the hardware update within the 360 or is it something external? I'm interested in the 360 as well. |

Apparently 1080p is supported according to wiki, silly me!

There are no digital video outputs such as DVI or HDMI; instead, HD-quality output can only be produced over VGA or component video. A wide array of SDTV and HDTV resolutions, up to 1080p after the fall software upgrade,[36] are supported by the console hardware.[56]

| For fans of high resolution, the big news is the addition of progressive-scan 1080p display for games and videos that support that resolution (it will, of course, require a monitor capable of displaying 1080p). |

Definitely not anything external but you have to have a broadband connection to get the download. |

Yeah I was trying to remember if the 360 did have in fact a VGA connector.
I do find that a HDMI/DVI connection provide a better picture than VGA. Something for others to bear in mind. |
