Hi peeps,

I've been teaching at a high school here in Bangkok for over two years now. I've also done numerous business classes.

I'm planning on coming over to Korea in 6 weeks, but I really, truly don't want to end up teaching kids.

I'm 30, and feel most comfortable with 15-19 year olds; enough distance so that they respect you, but you still share common interests, watch the same movies listen to the same music.

There seem to be a hell of a lot of kindy/elem jobs out there and I was wondering if anyone had any specific tips for avoiding that route.

Cheers.

Well..it does seem to be the common sense thing to do....

Another free tip:

Apply to Middle Schools or High Schools (either directly or through the various Education Offices).

Apply to adult Hakwons

Korean middle schools have kids aged 12-15 in western years (M1-3) and high schools 15-18 (M4-6). It's easy to land a middle school job through EPIK but you have no choice over what and where. There are lots of HS jobs but it will involve more looking. If you can handle split shifts, there are lots of adult academy jobs. You'll just have to be very specific with recruiters and say no to 95%+ of what comes back.

It has been wonderful. I live close to my school, which helps enormously (20 minutes door to door).

So, I eat lovely food, date lovely girls, teach lovely kids and don't really want to go to Korea!

Money; that's what it comes down to.
I get paid 40,000 baht a month, minus 2,800 tax. My apartment is 6,200 a month including all bills and 4 free cable channels.

Sounds sweet right?, however, I have to send 21,000 back to England every month in order to cover credit cards and a loan I took out.
