|
|
We stumbled upon a new bar today in Sang-Dong, Bucheon City. It's behind E-mart(formerly Wal-Mart) and across from Hyundai Department Store for those of you who know the area.
It's run by a Canadian guy and his lovely Korean wife, who cooks incredible food! We had big hand made hamburgers for 5,000won, loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapenos, onions and all the condiments you could want. For 500won extra you could get mushrooms or bacon. Yummy! They also made a really tasty poutine-styled fries(no cheese curds, hence the 'styled' remark). We ordered a basket of spicy fries(awesome), 3 burgers with extra bacon and mushrooms(delicious), an order of poutine(tasty goodness) and a pitcher for 39,000won. We also hung out and watched Jackass and the Family Guy on the big screen TV. The bar is new, airy and open. No booths, just easy to move tables and chairs. They have a small stage and they are looking to introduce some fun things like Trivia nights, Foosball and Sports nights on the Big Screen. For any Foreigners in this area, it's worth checking out! Great place to spend a rainy/wintery afternoon/evening!
PS~ Photos are from my phone, so please forgive the fuzziness. |

Cool. There's a wiki page here now if you want to add more info. The sign says it's a franchise? Is that true or does it just sound cool to say?

Cheers guys!
We stopped by tonight after work and I discovered that they make Soju cocktails using pureed fruit!! Yummy! I enjoyed a strawberry one with my buds. I spoke more to the owner, his name is Lance, and this is the first of what they hope to turn into a successful franchise. His wife's cooking is awesome, we had AMAZING honey garlic wings tonight. Soo good!! They make everything themselves, even the salsa and the dill/ranch dip that came with the wings. It was so good we dipped pretzels in it after the wings were gone. Worth checking out if you can! We got to sample a balsamic salad, with cucumber, lettuce, red onion, shaved parmesan and pepperoni on it that was incredible! She had made the dressing herselve, and it was absolutely first class quality. I'm so impressed!!
Anyways, check it out if you're in the area, the food is the best Western food I've had in the Incheon/Bucheon area that didn't come out of my own kitchen!
Seriously...soju c o c ktails got BEEPED?? |

Great, going there Friday night with some friends. Should
be a nice change from dingy Goose Goose. Also it is good
to support something new in Korea.
I hope this guy does well, but it all depends on the atmosphere,
in my opinion. He NEEDS good tunes and booze. And I can't
emphasize the need for music. With no music it is just the same
as all the rest of the boring Korean bar clones.
As for Family Guy, I don't want to go to a bar on Friday night
and watch that idiotic show. |

I went there too to introduce myself.
Lance seems like a real nice guy with a good vision for a bar.
His burger kicks ass. His food is of high quality.
His music is alright. He has a 'no pop music' policy.
He is planning to organize a quiz night, movie nights, possibly a Korean study group and an English study group too.
I hope to see some of you out there. |

| Sweet. Nice to see something for foreigners outside of Seoul. I'm gonna check it out tonight just to grab some burger action. Thanks for the tip. |

Well the music is great, and he has lots of variety. It was a Sunday afternoon when we watched Family guy, and the music was playing so you didn't have to pay attention if you didn't want to. He asked us what we wanted to watch and that was the general consensus.
He had some Hockey games playing Monday night, again, with just the music playing so everyone could talk if they wanted.
It's closest to Songnae Station, on the #1 line. You take a cab from Songnae, and tell them E-mart or Hyundae Department store, and you'll get there fine.
And this Friday night he is having a Halloween bash. Wear a mask/costume, win free food and drinks, and I believe Tequila is on 2 for 1.
I think for me I like the fact that even though people smoke, it airs out pretty quick unlike the Goose. As a non-smoker it almost feels like I'm home when I sit in a bar and don't reek of cigarettes! |

If he wants to make it a franchise, tell him to put his next store in Gangnam. |

| I stopped by there last night for a beer, but had the "soju shakes" so I didn't stick around for a burger like I had planned to. The place was really laid back and the dude that owned place said he might start doing a Sunday brunch. For this to be happening outside of Itaewon is pretty remarkable, but it's funny because that neighborhood is full of girly bars and noraebangs. |

| I stopped by last night for dinner as well. I had a burger and honey garlic wings, and spicy fries. All I can say is, it was a great meal. The burger really compares to the TGI's Burger in size but was cooked better and at only 5000 won is a much better deal. The wings and fries were good too. I'll be back for the burger. |
