|
|
Everything I've read seems to point me in one direction - I'm screwed.
What do i do? The school has told me that it shouldn't be a problem to get into the country on a tourist visa, but the law is simple on this - if you don't have a return ticket you are not going to get a tourist visa (and possibly not even leave your home country).
I'm supposed to go on the visa run to Japan once I get to SoKo, but it's seriously doubted that I'll get to SoKo.
Any advice? Words of wisdom? Any calming thoughts from people who have done this (if anyone has).
Thanks.
Oh, I'm supposed to arrive on the 5th of Feb, so I'm in deeper trouble than the details above suggest. |

| If you want some insurance, by a refundable ticket. |

| Yes, many have, even without a visa: the problem is more likely to be with the airline at check-in than with immigration on arrival. |

Just arrived here again for year number 4. I bought a one-way fully refundable ticket out of korea to show. No one asked. Even at immigration, when she waved me on, I said "Uh, do I need a ticket out?" she waved me through again. "But, but, I have one; dont you want to see it?" and again the wave.
Cost me $40cdn to have my ticket fully refundable, and it has still not been credited back to my credit card after 3 weeks, but the agency told me to expect it to take a few weeks.
My advice? $40 is not much to be prepared. But as mentioned above, you can walk right through a lot of times without ever being asked for one. |

| Yes, as I said, there is more problem with checking-in: if the airline spots the regulations, they will not let you check-in as they are liable to fly you back and pay a fine. |

I've flown on one way tickets 20+ times.
Never got stopped coming into Korea. But I have been stopped going into Manila once and Santiago once on one-ways. Each incident, they had me buy a refundable onward ticket at the airport.. which I promptly refunded the next day. |
