Arrests over 'terror kidnap plot'

Searches are being carried out at 12 addresses
Eight people have been arrested under the Terrorism Act in Birmingham in connection with an alleged plot to kidnap a member of the armed forces.
A number of addresses in the city have been sealed off after morning raids.

The operation, believed to have taken six months, involved police and security service MI5.

Senior security sources said a terror plot not aimed at mass casualties would mark "a different approach to terrorism in the UK".

BBC Home Affairs Correspondent Daniel Sandford said sources close to the investigation said the aim of the alleged plot was to kidnap a serving member of the armed forces, perhaps while they were on home leave.

[From what I understand these traitors were trying to kill a loyal Muslim born British soldier. I hope they are using other Muslims to tune into the crazy, traitorous elements.]

I'm betting a large number of British Muslims would disagree with you as to who between the soldier and the kidnappers should be labeled a traitor.

I am sure that is true. However, they are all British citizens. The soldier is loyal the Crown; the terrorists are traitors. I would suspect the majority of Pakistani Brits feel some connexion to England but way too many are disconnected and it is not a small number. I believe that according to a poll I read there is a much larger percentage of South Asian fanatics in England when compared with the North Africans in France who originally hail from Morrocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
