I've been looking at the "what foods do you miss the most" thread, and I wonder what all of you would request to have sent here. I mean, what's feasible to have shipped? I'm lucky that my family/friends have been offering to send me stuff, and I wrack my brain to think of things that are not too heavy and would hold up ok in shipment.

So, top 5 things you request/want shipped to you in a care package. Doesn't have to be food.

Edited to add my current top 5:
1. a really juicy celebrity gossip magazine!
2. Caribou mocha granola bars
3. oatmeal
4. Lindt chocolate
5. seasoning packets for stuff like pesto, tacos, etc.

You can find magazines at MANY diffrent book stores that carry English books as well.

As to my list, the items I have often asked for:

1) Anti-itch cream (for mosquito bites)
2) Taco seasoning packets
3) Books (because most book, even used, are so expensive. Also some are difficult to find in Korea)

Well since ive had quite a few random packages sent by my family, Ill list the top five of things I've recieved. Can't think of any others that would top these.

1 Video of all-ireland final 2005(didnt work obviously but the thought was there)watched it online live anyway.

2 Cadbury's cream eggs(at easter)

3 Varnished and of course blessed St Brigid's cross last year. Looks good on my wall.

4 Oxo cubes(sure I could get these here and hadnt asked for them, had to stop my co-teacher from eating one which was funny, cos I used to do that when I was very small)

5 Football Italia magazine from my little brother two months after Juventus got relegated to Serie B. I taught the wee bastard well.

All available in Korea. I've bought each of those more than once in each of Seoul and Geoje Island (import goods stores). Haven't been to Costco but tzechuk says there too. Take care of yourself!

Saw both at an imports store in Itaewon yesterday. Go down the hill from Burger King corner, pass the first crosswalk on that street (where the red door imports store is on your left) and look for another newer imports good store on your left. A bit more pricy but they got 'em.

real sheets
real essential oil candles - not the perfumed things
fluffy washcloths
something that smells like my mom

Yes, I know these aren't food items. Still it's what I'd want in a care package.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Reese's Pieces
Cadbury Creme Eggs
dried split peas
a block of smoked gouda sealed in wax (that stuff lasts forever, my Dad sent me a log of that stuff that survived a 2 month surface mail trip)
Sudafed
Pepto-Bismol in caplet form
clear antiperspirant (the white flaky stuff I get at the black market keeps ruining my T-shirts)
soul food seasoning salt (great for bbqs and scrambled eggs)
grits
hard cider

There's not much else that I still want that I've had trouble finding.

As for oatmeal, you can get that at pretty much any black market, try the Shinchon black market, near exit 8 of Shinchon station.

The one and only thing I can think of is taco seasoning. My mom asked me what she could send me and I said taco seasoning and magazines. So I got a few mags and 12 packs of taco bell seasoning. hell yeah.

Thanks for the tip. I still have taco seasoning (mom sent about half a dozen packets. I might still go for the anti-itch cream. The Korean version isn't near as good. Thankfully I'm leaving in 4 months so I don't have to put up with the damn mosquitoes too much longer.
