I spend a lot of time talking about different learning strategies and providing examples for them to try out. I also repeatedly explain that not every strategy works for everyone so they shouldn't necessarily do what works for their friend since their learning styles may be different.
We also spend some time talking about learning styles and the information that can be gleaned from MBTI and MI tests taking into account that these are not perfect. I provide examples of successful language learners trying different approaches to that which they are used to. If possible I will use one of the stronger students in class as an example as they will typically do things other than just sit and study vocabulary and grammar.
This semester I'm going to be incorporating a weekly reflective learning journal in addition to all other weekly homework. |
