Two Chinese Korean guys killed a girl and chopped up her body in parts...they put the body parts in a suitcase and got on the subway to go somewhere to dump the body...so the guys were going through a turnstyle at one of the subway stations, when their ticket didn't work. Subway police guy comes out, asked them what was wrong...tickets don't work they say...he clears them through and asks them about their suitcase which is now leaking blood. "We just bought some meat" they say. Oh, allright...lets them go.

They end up catching the killers because of CCTV in the subway. They had dumped the suitcase with body parts in another subway station.

This happened last week.

Anyone have the full story? All I got were bits and peices (no pun intended) from my wife while she was watching the news...

I'm waiting for them to twist it around and blame the foreigner teachers somehow.

Just goes to prove- If you're going to hack up your girlfriend, put her parts in at least 3 different places, carry her bloody pieces on the subway, and travel around Korea, DON'T BRING YOUR CELLPHONE!!

This whole episode revolved around the authorities looking for foreign suspects. I still haven't heard enough corroborating facts. Is the guy Chinese or Chinese-Korean?

Doesn't matter either way.. To the Korean press he will be considered Chinese, regardless if he has the much vaunted Korean blood.

Kind of like how Ben Johnson went from being the Canadian gold medalist to the Jamaican-Canadian cheater?

I live in Ansan, and this has been huge news here. All the ajummas I know are talking about it. There are a few twists that have supposedly happened (all hearsay):

1) The guy was actually a Korean pretending to be a Chinese.

2) The police did a search of the Chinese neighbourhood around Ansan station, where the body suitcase was found, and they found a leg on one of the roofs.

3) The station attendant made the dude open his suitcase. The "Chinese" guy opened the suitcase and the station attendant saw fleshy parts wrapped in plastic, with blood. The guy told him it was kalbi.

4) The station master helped him carry his suitcase for a short distance.

The area around Ansan station has a bad reputation in Ansan, apparently, because there is a large immigrant population (3-D workers) and a higher crime rate (I'm not claiming this as fact, but what I've been told...).

Is that so? So much for the Joongang article, reporting him to be a Chinese in Korea illegally.. Even if he truly is Korean, I bet most Koreans will only remember the inital reports of the illegal foreign murderer.

Sorry, perhaps I didn't make it clear - this is only what I've been told. I don't purport any of it to be true...

A lot of so-called Chinese people in this country really are Koreans who fled to China during the occupation, the war, or whenever, and after a while returned to Korea with elements of Chinese culture.

A similar incident happened in Dublin a few years ago. I remember it because a newspaper report at the time was quite funny, something like:

"The Gardai (Irish police) today discovered the body of what is believed to be a male in his 20's in the Royal Canal Dublin. The dismembered body was found stuffed inside a large suitcase. The Gardai are treating the death as suspicious"

Suspicious! No 5h1t!
They caught the people responsible - two Russian weightlifters who killed they guy, who was Romanian, cause he was beating on his Russian girlfriend. It took months for the Gardai to id him - they had to publish a photo of his bloated, decomposing corpse in the daily papers. Not nice.
