but have no idea what i really want to study... i think i'm a fairly bright and well-read sort of a person, but i need an MA to "level-up" in the ESL/EFL teaching world... and although i think study of the English language is interesting... it's not interesting enough to go for an MA in... especially if the focus is teaching EFL... i really really enjoy Chinese characters and learning about their origins and influences in modern Asian culture but my undergraduate is in art so i am a bit far afield from an MA in any online Chinese program... although i would dearly love to find one that would accept me.... ... .. . in lieu of that does anyone have any suggestions for online studies that would enable me to make more money down the road, here or anywhere else in Asia (most likely Japan)... ? |

Longstanding respected distance (NOT online) graduate degree program in the Humanities through a bricks and mortar California state university ranked decent enough in the U.S., with a faculty loaded with PhDs from reputable universities, a mandatory thesis defense for respectability and very affordable tuition rates:

If you have a Bachelor's degree in Art then why not go for a masters? You might not be able to do it online from Korea but you can prepare for it while your here and then when you go back home it will be a walk in the park. You can choose a certain subject like photography and take pictures of Korean culture, while you are here.
As for Chinese characters: Why not go to a Chinese or Japanese hogwan, talk to the teachers and arrange for tutoring? I would suggest choosing Chinese as it is grammatically similar to English and if you are studying everyday at the hogwan you will get instruction from a native speaker as well as language practice. I would think that the most in-adept language learner could learn 1500 characters during the first year if they really applied themselves and went to a hogwan to study everyday. If you choose this option, be prepared for hard work though. |

Why bother?
Can't understand these people getting on-line Masters "degrees". I'd rather pick my nose and download stupid TV shows and smoke cigarettes.

You probably don't even speak Chinese. Probably should learn that first. Think you're headed toward or are in the wrong country for that.
Yeah, sure. They study characters, but they can't speak a lick of it or sound like drunk mental retards (sorry PC people) when they do. |

Just tell a prospective employer you're a Master Jedi and fool them into thinking you have your Phd. |
