| Great if you're near the university. In any case, the lack of a coach who speaks English shouldn't discourage people from taking lessons. When I was a kid, I took Tae Kwon Do from an old Korean guy who spoke English with the strongest possible accent, like when a student reads his English essay, which he wrote phonetically in Hangul instead of English. Nobody understood a damned thing he said (we just nodded and smiled at his stories), but it wasn't that hard to follow the class. Here in Korea, I used to take lessons from a guy who used to be world champion (full contact, before that pussyfooting they have now). The fact he didn't speak any English at all didn't stop foreign national teams from coming to Korea to train with him. |

FU.. I made a mistake. So sue me. taekwondo. It still a silly martial art that has little to no practical value. |

practical value? hmmmmm
i guess that depends on what you define as 'practical' and 'value'. i guess you mean that for a martial art to 'have value' it has to mean that a practitioner must be able to use it in a streetfight? or in mma?
yep, maybe taekwondo isn't a streetfighting skill, but that doesn't mean is has no value. but of course, any martial artist worth his / her salt will tell you that a high level of skill in a martial art means you should aim to fight less often, which is something that i'm sure you're aware of.... right?
remember grasshopper, the journey to a destination is more important than the destination.... |

Dude,
I don't know about you, but I dont want to be on the receving end of a Tae Kwon Do practicioner's kick.
If I ever end up in that dreadful situation, I can only pray that my teeth were spared. |

I fear a Muay Thai Elbow much more.. I've taken lots of kicks high and low they are to easy to block/counter/evade. I've been hit with Elbow its ten times worse then a kick. Most taekwondo is mostly olympic crap/flailing of legs with absolutly no upper body guard or defence (Hence no practical value) On top of that most TK classes are really watered down they have the same philosophy of Haqwons.
How many succesful Taekwondo fighters have you seen in K1, Pride and UFC? |

| Could you shut up? The OP didn't ask for dissertations on the relative merits of one martial art as opposed to another. Nobody cares about your stupid little opinion that one guy's elbow is better than another guy's kick. |

Why?
When I was a kid, in America, my instructor couldn't speak 2 words of English. |
