While I know of Boggle's World and Deubelbeiss, does anyone else have any recommended websites for high school level teaching ideas/resources?

Any books or materials to recommend?

Thanks seasoned ESL teaching veterans.

fizban,

I'd recommend right off, Andrew Finch's materials. He teaches high school teachers and has lots of very teacher friendly materials. Very practical.

I've spent time better packaging most of his stuff and its on my adbode site. Here is an example of one, that compliments the high school textbook.....lots of ideas here. But Tell me More and even his Reflections (meant for teachers) has instant classroom material.....

By far the best thing you could do if you have any interest in making EFL teaching a mid- or long-term career is visit some of the larger bookstores and spend a few hours stocking up.

- this is the most practical phonics book I've found, though it's necessary to make some alterations to make it most effective for teaching large HS classes.

- this also has some good stuff but is getting a bit out of date. It also has to be modified a lot for HS.

Spending $100-200 at the beginning on your own resources will be a small price to pay if it makes the rest of your teaching life so much easier.
