I know there are a lot of posts on shipping already, but none of them really answered my questions. I apologize if this has been beaten to death, but any tips or helpful comments would be greatly appreciated.

I've been in Korea on and off for just over three years and in that time I've amassed a bit of as shoe collection (guessing around 30 pairs or so). I keep them in their boxes, and so obviously it will be impossible to take them in my luggage. I've sent numerous boxes of clothes and souveniers home before and never had any problems, but with shoes its a little different...

The shoes are more valuable to me, and far more expensive than the clothes. Basically I'm wondering if anyone has bought insurance for their shipments back home, and if so was it worth it? Also, has anyone ever had any problems with customs? I usually mark the box as "gift" and put the value at $100, but if they were ever opened it might look like someone is starting their own store, and obviously the value is far more than reported.

Basically I need to get them all home safely (haha sounds like I'm talking about pets) without branking the bank.

Thanks

Mark it "used clothing?" I'd try to put a few of the pairs most important to you in your luggage just in case something happens to the box, so you don't lose *all* of them. Or maybe split the pairs up and ship them in two different boxes on different dates, without shipping any pairs together in one box? Most people wouldn't be interested in just one shoe.
