I have been teaching in a Hagwan for 10 months and am looking for a better school for next year (May/June 07). I wouls love to find a school that teaches sports and drama as well, but am not so keen on the sounds of English villages. Can anyone help me??
I thought of working short hours at a public school, and also at a posts academy if there was one, but they seem non-existent. Is this true?
I want to stay here for another year for money and experience and as I have made friends here, but I really want to find a better shool where I am treated with more respect and more variety if possible. What should I look out for?/
Thanks a lot

A few public schools have designated sport programmes. Some have after-school soccer programmes and the like. However, finding one by chance would be very hard. The main placement agencies like EPIK, GEPIK and SMOE probably wouldn't care one bit about your interests in this regard. A boys technical high school would probably offer the most sports for students, but while the students may be great to coach they'd probably be about the worst to teach English to. My school has one sports day and one physical fitness-check day a year. Once a year they scramble a soccer team together for a single match against the girls school in the small town down the road. I was asked if I had any soccer skills and if I'd be interested in helping to coach. Um, no and no. I'm hoping to start a drama club next year instead. |
