These people obviously engaged in horrible acts. What they have in common from what I could see is they were Palestinians. The Palestinians are under an occupation. You can commit terrorism and be a Catholic under occupation. Many Catholics in Ireland felt that the North was occupied and engaged in terrorism. Yes, there are serious cultural issues behind this violence, but I would also suggest there is somewhat a culture of violence mixed with the interpretation of Judaism among many Jews in Israel and Christians in America and it is not just the television terrorists with Arab names only. If we continue to see things just like that, we won't solve the problem. People just turn to religion in different ways in a crisis and re-interpret their religion based on what is in vogue based on events around them and will respond to certain imams who can take advantage of certain negative events for negative consequences.
The Palestinians before the Arab-Israeli conflict or the formation of the state in the mid 1800s before Zionism emerged were not killing their Christian and Jewish minorities. That happened in Lebanon between the Druze and the Catholics. Sectarian conflict emerged in the 20th century.
