Here's a link to an article in the NYTimes on the culinary delights of Korean-style fried chicken. It also has a link inside to the zenkimchi blog, which was apparently a source for the story.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/07/dining/07fried.html?hp&ex=1170824400&en=c3e23e13f895ea31&ei=5094&partner=homepage

They like it. So do I. The little hof below my apartment does what it calls "Danish barbecue," fried chicken in slightly sweet, spicy, heavy sauce. If only they could get better beer.

So, what's your favorite fried chicken place?

I noted the hassle of cooking chicken evenly as a reason for smaller chickens being favoured.

Even so,I've had chicken countless times and thought where's the chicken? It was more like battered bones.Neck anyone?

This is one of my main complaints with Korean food,be it chicken, ribs or whatever and I always feel like I'm being fobbed off.Where's the chicken mofo?

TwoTwo is probably the best I've had though.

Personally,I like those guys that pull up in their truck with a rack of rotisserie chickens in the back.Oh yeah, that's the bizzo.

Yeah I've only been disappointed once or twice with the fried chicken in Korea, as far as the taste goes. Sometimes it's ultra bland and greasy, but typically pretty damn good. My favorite spot is this place called Ne Ne's who have the bomb spicy fried chicken, and it comes with little cartons of corn and sauces, in addition to the requsite radishes which always find their way directly into my trash bin.

My one complaint about the fried chicken is the way they usually chop it up into little pieces. I prefer to have gigantic pieces, especially on the 'chest' meat. I once had an argument for like 5 minutes with a dude about not cutting it up. He was so angry about it, just because I asked him not to do so. In the end, he did it anyway. My coworkers later laughed at me. "It's not KFC, you know! You get what they give you." So true.. even the one or two mystery pieces that have no meat. Is that a neck?

And, I've really gotta say, none of the fried chicken I've ever had compares to my grandma's, especially when she serves up her mashed potatoes and green beans to go along, with slices of tomato and bell pepper on the side. Now that's eatin'.

NeNe has this awesome 'sunsal totiya' thing that's like a KFC twister: fried chicken, salad, and tortillas. mmmmmmmmmm.... heart attack in a box.....

It is indeed, but at twice the price of the Mom and Pop chicken places it should be!

I'm not a fan of the stuff that's absolutely dripping with that red sauce and has a very thick batter. I much prefer the KFC-ish orginal style with a thin, slightly spicy, breadcrumb coating. One little place near me does a great breadcrumb coating.

had it on my first night in Korea. Although, one or two of the pieces i had weren't completely white, a tad pink. And well, I like my meat cooked ALL the way

there'a fried chicken place in the Korea-"block" in the Coquitam/Burnaby border. It's called 아주커 chicken. I kinda want some now XD

My vote is TwoTwo Fried Chicken. There is one right below my school so I always smell it when they fire up their fryer, I love it.

There was one place near me that was a lovely little fried chicken and beer hof. I went in once every week or 2 and paid about 9,000 for 2 beers and a decent amount of chicken-superb value, in Ireland and most other western countries I've been to you'd pay that and more just for the booze. Unfortunately it closed down a few weeks ago.

All the other places around me serve it in such a way that the smallest portion is enough for at least 2 people. And would feed three people easily enough.

I like the stuff too, be it Kyochon, BBQ or the little mom and pop places with draft beer.
