my most-admired musician announced today that she and her boyfriend of five years have decided to call it quits, but that they remain good friends blah blah blah...

now im well aware that break-ups in tinsel town is the norm. im mean its almost like you're uncool if you stay with one person too long. but just once i'd like to see two people make it and i was secretly hoping it would be them.
why do they break up so much? well, that's actually a no-brainer...but im curious, whats the ratio of celebrities breaking-up to that of us lesser gods? why do they just give up? maybe it's just me or maybe i know too few people in bad realtionships but you read about all these break-ups and you get the feeling they don't really try. and even if they do, not hard enough. sometimes i think they dont allow themselves happiness and joy, just a quick go at each other. and...how do emotions just wear out?
maybe im just an idealistic girl whos gunning for people in love, even after they fall out. i know i am

Remember when Jennnifer Aniston and Brad Pitt split? One of my korean friends said they both started seeing other people so soon, then she said Americans only care about sex. I told her that's not true for all of us. Then, not long after, she borke up with her boyfriend and was already seeing someone else. Look who's talking...that pissed me off. I recently met a couple of Korean girls and we were talking about TV, etc. They told me they like Sex and the City. I told them that I think Samantha is a bad girl. They said, oh we like her. Then one of them asked me if all women in New York are like Samantha. I said well, some of them are and some aren't. I wish some koreans would stop making generalizations based on TV drivel. My Korean boyfriend told me he saw Americans on TV eating hamburgers...Well????????? I told him I only like them a little bit. TV is TV. I have had to explain to him before that American food is not JUST hamburgers, pizza, and hotdogs. It's much more. He was like "oh, really" when I told him about casseroles, cakes, pies, etc.

Shallow people who live in a shallow culture and have too much disposable income and free time and bound to have doomed relationships. Most REAL people stay together because it is more often than not too much of a hardship to break up. Having to move, reshuffle their lives, and deal with financial strain is a big motivator to not leave over trivial issues. It takes a real grievance leave somebody in the real world. Celebrities on the other hand can afford leave and have their PAs do all the dirty work for them. Plus being surrounded by attractive phonies all the time gives them opportunity to cheat.

Korea has a divorce rate of 50%, up from about 10% ten years ago. Why should movie stars be exempt from the social trends of their generation?

Forget about gay marriage. I say Hollywood marriages should be outlawed.
