I recently scratched a neighbour's car by accident and left a note offering to pay to fix it. I assume it's gonna cost me a pretty penny but I would have felt bad if I hadn't done anything.
However, as I think about it a bit more, Koreans would NEVER do that. Was I retarded to do this? If it had been my car, I would want someone to tell me.
At the very least, the Korean dude is gonna have a good opinion of the waygook neigbour, right? |

Ha, ha, this just reminded me of something I used to do in my early college years. I haven't thought about it for a long time.
My friend, her roommate, and I used to occasionally go to supermarket parking lots and leave notes on cars saying that we had scratched them, or backed into them, etc. (we hadn't really done anything at all to them, aside from leaving a note). The note basically said that we were so sorry for the damage we'd caused to their vehicle, promised to report it to the insurance company, and finally, to please call us with their information and to discuss other details. We'd sign them with a really common name, like "Heather Anderson" or whatever, but not leave a phone number. Then we'd hide and watch people find the note and freak out, then walk around and around their vehicle trying to find where the "damage" had been done. Some people just got angry and took off.
It was quite a riot. But then, those were back in the days when I did whatever the hell I wanted, all the time, without too much concern about whether it was considerate or not. |

Sorry to hijack the thread. Back on track!!
Yeah, yeah, you did the moral thing, the thing that you would have wanted someone else to do for you.
I guess that my main concern is that sometimes people think situations like this are a blank check to get everything that was previously wrong with the car fixed for free. Also, I don't know how bad the damage you did is, but it seems like most cars here have some kind of dent or ding or scratch. So I don't know if it's as big of a deal as it would be at home.
I don't know if his opinion of you is already a positive or negative impression, but it probably won't change; his conviction that he is right in his opinion of you will only deepen. Also, I guess that's assuming that he can read and understand whatever note you left for him. Maybe it's not a big deal to him, who knows. |

A 19 year old boy who was driving a huge truck scratched the back side of my car BADLY and he tried to run away, somehow police was around there and the police got the boy's truck license #. The police left a note at windshield of my car.
The police found who the boy was and his insurance Co took care the damage of my car. This incident happened at shopping mall parking lot.
My car was Volvo with over 80,000 mileages |

| If there are witnesses, yes. If not, I'd make a run for it. Even a small scratch can cost up to $1000, the way cars are put together these days. |

| Have you actually SEEN the cars here? I doubt there's one that is scratch-free, except maybe those yahoos tooling around in Chairmans. |

If the car was Japanese then it's okay. No apology required. |
