|
|
I currently live near Seoul National University. I am leaching off of some generous person's wireless connection. I am not sure how long it will last, and it is excruciatingly slow. My employer has not been helpful.
Has anyone accomplished getting their own high speed connection added to the monthly bills? Can anyone give me some leads as far as who the provider might be? |

KT is one of the major providers. you may be able to get 100mbit fibre optic to your home.
if you call their main number there is an option for english service.
as long as you have your ARC, it shouldnt be a problem! |

| I got my broadband with my cable TV service. Works to about 50 to 55 dollars per month. However, they made my pay the whole year in advance...jeez. |

Who did you get the broadband internet and cable TV from? The price sure seems OK, but paying a year will be a pain.
Thanks |

| I've got KT, just diall 100 from your phone and they have english service and will set up an appointment for them to install it. They also let you pay monthly, no need to pay for the whole year. |

| Be aware though that you may have to keep the service a full year. If you don't, they will hit you with a penalty fee for canceling before that. |

I was lucky in this respect ... When my school enquired about this for me ... I am in Gyenggido province .. they were apparently told the contract needed to be for 3 years .... and couldn't be held by a foreigner ... so the contract is with them rather than me ... and because it is a 3 year contract the cost per month is lower... I get my cable TV and Internet for 27,000 a month ... which to me was very cheap and about 1/2 what I was paying on my broadband plan in Australia before I left.
I will be paying for it each month.

I just called KT and they told me that they cannot offer Internet and cable TV. They only have internet, not cable TV (I am in Seoul).
What is the company that would offer cable TV and internet together (mentioned by icicle above)?
KT told me that they could open a new service with an ARC (OR) a passport. The ARC is not required. Of course, this rule may change tomorrow.
KT told me their ADSL rate was 41,800 a month. With a 3 year contrace that is reduced to 31,300 (with free installation and free gift!)
Any help on something better (cheaper? with cable TV?) is appreciated.
Thanks,
Drew |
