I thought I could figure this myself but can't make heads or tails of the Embassy sites. I (like others I hope) have a UK and NZ passport and want to know which is better for getting an E-2 visa, in terms of money and hassle? I read about 6 month exemptions etc but really don't know.
Also I plan to travel to Japan and China, so do I get the Multiple entry visa when I first apply. I am currently finding a job and will sort visa before I leave NZ. |

UK passport. NZ passport means you have to pay into the pension scheme with a pension back. |

If you use the UK passport you will not have to pay for the multi entry sticker, but a Chinese visa is often more expensive for a UK passport than a NZ Passport. Six and one half dozen the other. |

I think it's slightly cheaper to get an E2 for your UK passport. If you're in NZ it's less hassle to get the visa for your NZ passport.
I've used both over my times... I always got treated better by Korean authorities when thought to be a NZer though..... mind you Korean authorities change their minds and opinions and rules as often as (insert cliche). |

This is wrong. There is no problem to get an E2 at the Korean consulate in NZ with a UK Passport, the same process as with a NZ. |

Jeez those are fast replies. Think I will go UK this time. Don't think I will need to hide my UK passport in this part of the world.
Cheers again. |

Pension wise it's roughly the same but with the UK passport you can have it paid into a UK fund. You still get no refund on leaving unless you're from NA.
Don't have to pay for the re-entry permit on a UK passport but you still have to get it done.
Most schools prefer a Brit over a NZer.(North America first,UK,OZ and NZ,South Africa isn't considered a native speaking country by a lot of schools.By which I mean hagwons, and by that I mean "spew")
About all that comes to mind..... |
