The workers at that newer PC Bang located on the 3rd floor just outside of the subway have been exceedingly rude to me twice. I'm starting to get the impression that they don't like foreigners there, so I'm not going back.

Last night, I clicked on a link which started playing a sound loudly. I turned down the speakers, but right after I did, the snotty Korean boy (probably 20-ish) ran over and turned my speaker off. He rudely and angrily shouted, "DO NOT PLAY LOUD!"

He was yapping on his handphone at the time. I just about got up and bit*h-slapped him.

BOYCOTT!

Derrek, I think that 20-ish guy is the same individual who treated me very badly each of the three times I went to that place.

The first time he just walked up to me and turned off the tower for no apparant reason. Th second time, I turned around to find him watching me type a letter to somebody. After a few seconds, I turned around again and asked him to not read my letter. He said nothing, so I then put my jacket over the monitor to give him the message that his intrusive peeping was unwelcome. He stayed in the same spot and watched me type some more. Next, I adjusted both the contrast and brightness controls to a personally desirable level. He aggressively started turning them back up to where they were previously and so I protested firmly. He barked something at me and then wedged his arm against my ribs and continued increasing the contrast and brightness levels. I got up and laid the money for the bill on the area in front of the counter and walked away.

The final time he treated me like shite was the last time I visited the place. He sat right next to me and cranked up the most hideous K-pop music imaginable. After several seconds, I politely asked him to turn it down a little bit. He gave me a hostile look and said: "No"! Yet, I saw him turn down the volume of the music played by a few others while I was there.

Yeah, he's a hostile, possibly anti-waygukin, guy. Anyway, I've boycotted the place ever since the last episode.

what a maroon - especially in itaewon of all places. I'm stuck in solowaygook Eonyang and i've yet to be hasseled at the pc bong (and i've asked for it a number of times in different fashions).

I think it's a safe guess the kid doesn't own the place. Perhaps a talk with the owner (if he's ever around) might have the boss giving the kid some unwelcome attention. If the owner gets the idea he's losing money because of some twerp he's hiring at W3,000 won an hour or so he might just find a more agreeable twerp to run things.

Unless the twerp is his son...

Maybe they don't speak English, or are embarrased to do so in front of a native English speaker?
Anyway I've never encountered this problem, and I've been here for a few years. I've had the reading over the shoulder a couple times. The cure for that is to stop typing, turn around and stare at him (after you've asked him politely not to read personal writings of course). Continued eye contact and maintaining a level of complete silence seems to frighten off.

I have had many arguements with that guy.

Anti-waygookin to say the least! I cannot even begin to tell you all the problems I have encountered with him.

He is not the owner, I do hope to meet the owner in order to let him know how his very special staff member drives away customers.

haaahah OMG!!! I was once in ITAEWON and I forgot the address of this party I wasd going to so I needed to quickly check my email for like 1 minute to get it.. I tried a computer shop around the corner he said no I was not allowed to check it there so I told me to go to this shop on the 3rd floor.. so I go up there I check the email for 1 minute then go to pay thinking its going to be like 200won or something,,. naaa HE SAYS
2000 won or something..
IM LIKE WHAT! I just used it for like 1 minute, he was rude and said I dont care you have to pay 2000 won!!!
im like you dont care ????!!!!
Im like pulling out the cash and saying next time why dont you have a sign in here saying that the minimum is 1 hr!!!!!
so I put the money down and proceed to walk out.. I was with my kyopo friend and he stops him and says! your friend is too rude and some other shit... I turn back and said WHAT!!!
he just gave me the korean stare! my kyopo friend tells him in korean whatever dickhead and we leave!! and I said to myself I will never go back to that NAZI PC-BANG!!
man there whole business is foreigners pretty much apart fron the nerds who spend all nights playing STARCRAFT and DIABLO2 , expansion set whatever!!!!
foreigners need to boycott,

I tell you if that was me and he came and turned down my speaker or started to watch my screen I would tell him to *beep* OFF!! I swear to god Im not just saying that.. I lost my patience with korean idiots long time ago!
I would tell him in BANMAL no respect form and use YA!!! and GA!!!!
they hate that shit..
and if he stands up to me I will move in and say MO!!
HUH!!!
what you want to do something!!!??
and if he asks me to leave I will without paying of course!!
there are plenty of PC bangs in korea foreigners dont need to take crap from the likes of those few bad apple koreans who make us hate them all.
man I miss the days of Utophia back in 99 things were different then!!
but I have my pc and super fast cable I never go to PC bangs anymore..

Yea, I had some dipwad reading over my shoulder all the time a few years ago. I realized the moron could speak English so I just started writing about him...

So mom, there is some idiot working in the net cafe near my house that insists upon reading over my shoulder. I hope he can read this so he sees how rude it is and will stop doing it before I throw a cup of coffee in his stupid fat face.

Did the trick and I even sent the email to mom to give her a laugh.

i got nothing but love from all the pc bangs in itaewon. there is a really good one in the back street that runs parallel to itaewon-no (that street the cuts back behind geckos. it's 1200 an hour though. premium rates and all. it had a grey and white sign (maybe red too). you can also reach it from the little stair case that is to the left of subway (a few stores down). then turn left and it's on the second floor.

they used to bring me a free coffee (unasked for). shoot the breeze a little in korean/english. loved those guys.

much love.

I don't understand why you don't just tell this guy to *beep* off? In Korean or in English, depending on your mood? Am I missing something? Surely you great big tough Westerners could kick his scrawny little Korean butt?
