As I sit here, watching attractive Korean ladies vibrating their bodies on those vibration machines on the home shopping channel, I wonder what they think those things actually do? We have one of those at my gym, and there's almost a line for the thing sometimes.
Do they actually think it burns fat?
They keep showing heat-sensing video showing how your body gets warmer from the "workout" on one of these things. |

Lmao, Koreans believe in a lot of things that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Trust me, I would know. |

Yes. Just as those hula hoops with the huge knobs around the edges pound the fat off you, too. |

| I'm sure the hula hoops are bunk, but the vibrating belt gives a good massage after a workout and is good for circulation. Try it. You'll like it. |

| Have you seen those ads for that horse saddle contraption? Don't they make sex toys that oddly resemble those machines? |

| The vibrating machines are advertised as fat-reducers on infomercials (or they seem to be, according to what I can make out). I agree they might give a bit of a massage but they don't do anything about stored bodyfat except make it giggle a lot. I don't understand why people think they can "lose weight" with them, their ineffectiveness has been well-known for at least forty years, and there's more than enough information online to dispel that particular myth. |

Remind me sometime to tell you kids the story about when i was a first year uni student sharing a house with a pretty damn sexy excercies science post grad student called Emma.......
Oh she loved vibrating things..... she had one of those belt vibrator machine you kind of strap your self into and the belt thingo around your waist to burn off / vibrate off abdominal fat....... and oh she loved that machine....... kept it in the lounge/living room.... she never seemed to realise how 'jiggly' she looked when using it.....
Never (unfortunately- curse my geekiness ability to repell women) actually got physically intimate with the lass... probably just as well.... the never pooping where you wanna sit or somehting saying is pretty valid....... but i did get my rocks off on the machine when nobody was home....... the trick is to stand on a stool........ |

I saw that commercial the other day. It reminded me more of going to a country and western bar and riding the bull there. Whatever was going on, it is a little too erotic for its own good. |

There is an ajumma at my gym, who daily, without fail, beats the cr@p outta herself to music, maybe she thinks that this reduces fat? I mean she really wacks herself hard!!
There is nothing like a bit a self abuse to inspire a good workout |

I'm not a doctor, but from what I understand, some kinds of exercise can lead to a build-up of lactate in the muscle tissues, which is one cause of muscle soreness. Oxygen-rich blood will alleviate the lactate concentration. These machines, I would guess, help pump blood through these areas, using intermittent pressure. Wait, maybe I AM a doctor... |
