|
|
I'm sure this question has been asked before ... but here goes anyway - I have an E2 visa and want to resign as per my contract. If I want to take up another contract here in Korea do I just go ahead and do it or must I wait for my current employer to cancel my visa. I don't want to tell the current employer that I am going to take up another contract here. I just want to make sure before I resign and then my visa is not cancelled and I'm not able to sign another contract.
Thanks y'all! |

You need one of either of these to happen:
1. You current employer goes into immigration and cancels your visa.
2. You get what is called a "Letter of Release" from you employer for you to take to immigration when you apply for your new job.
Here's a template for a release letter that you can use. There's two actually, one in English and one in Korean. They are both exact translations of each other.
LETTER OF RELEASE
Letter of Consent to Release Foreign English Teacher
Name of Teacher:
Nationality:
Passport No.:
Address:
Telephone No.:
The above-person has been working at our school/academy from __________ to _______________ in the position of Foreign English teacher. We hereby give our consent to the transfer of said person to work for another English school/academy.
Dated: _____, 2006
Name of English Academy
Address of School

Sometimes.
Sometimes you can simply change your visa to the new employer.
Sometimes you have to go through the whole visa application process again.
It all depends on who is at the desk the day you apply and what mood they are in. |
