I know there are threads on this site that deal with Busan versus Seoul, or Busan versus some other city or location.

What I want to know is: if you have to live in Busan, where's it good to be?

Now, I know that everyone has their own variables that adds value to a location for them, but I'm open to general suggestions anyway...

But if you know of a place that suits me cos it is:

1.) near to a 50 meter-length swimming pool

2.) away from Hyeundae Beach and downtown Busan

please let me know!

* Also, relatedly, do you know of any clean, tidy two-room places going for 5 mill. chunsae and 300,000 (or less) walsae - in Busan?

If so, please let me know.
Regards,
e.

Well, I lived in Busan for 3 years and I would have suggested either Seomyeon (downtown) or Haeundae. Why not in those areas?

This makes me think my advice will not be so useful to you, but excepting those two areas I would try.

PNU/Dongnae/Guseo area north of downtown all on line 1.
Lotte Dept Store in Dongnae has a nice pool on the 9th floor.

or near Gwangan beach, but you don't seem to like beaches.

Maybe if you gave more criteria than a swimming pool I could be of more help?

Welllll...

I prefer the country-side kind-a lifestyle - fresh air, trees on the hills for jogging in the mornings, and no traffic sounds...

but my fiance will need to be near work downtown, and I'll be working just west (to the left of...) Seomyeon.

I visited the area around the Busan Sports Complex last night, just west of Yeonsan-dong, before Sajik Yuk. Looks nice and new, not too crowded and crushed; and kinda central to everywhere via the subway.

Anyone know about down near Sinpyeong, in Saha-gu? Do you know if there are buses that go straight up the river and then turn right into Sasang-gu, and go towards Seomyeon?

Around Saha-gu is not so great. Older part of town. Bit of an industrial area around Shinpyeong.

As long as you can read Korean, you can get lots of info from these sites about buses(and subways):

http://www.busanbus.or.kr/

http://blog.naver.com/soragod2402?Redirect=Log&logNo=110011752263

http://traffic.busan.go.kr/kor/

http://www.subway.busan.kr/korea/main/

The second's probably the best for detailed info.

PNU:

Why?

Western Bars: Crossroads, Moes, the Basement.

Food: The turkish resteraunt, American Chinese, Japanese, Indian.

Excercise: a plethora of gyms, muay thai, hapkido, mountains, a river to run by.

Korean Lessons: three institutes in this area.

If you don't want to live in a downtown area or near the beach, just live at any random place. You want the absence of things to do, than easily live anywhere. How about point at a map of busan and randomly pick anything. I'm sure that place will be boring enough for you. Try to live out in Jinhea or something.
