What and Where are the good hiphop clubs in Seoul? Your input would be appreciated. I'm making a trip there soon. |

This is a hard topic.
There's a trio of clubs in Hongdae that are owned by the same group, but play different music. The most popular one is M2, and right above M2 is a hiphop club. HOWEVER, I wouldn't necessarily call it "good" because they're so damned crowded that you can't move.
In Gangnam you've got 4X, Harlem, and one other that i'm forgetting the name of. Harlem is actually fairly good. Not too crowded, but the music is all last years.
Strangely, if you're purely looking for updated music, Polly's Kettle on Hooker Hill is the most up to date. But the atmosphere...lot's of hookers and bar flies, but also lots of people just chillin' out.
UN is the most difficult to judge. They have some black army guys DJ'ing, so they have the most "back home" vibe. HOWEVER, the amount of hookers and trashy k-girls really kills the place. |

I'd say they're "good" in that there apparently is a very good dancefloor with lots of scantily clad girls. However, if there's an underground hip-hop scene, somehow I think it would be independent of this. |

All the Korean hiphop clubs are more or less the same musically. I don't think it's fair to say they are a year behind. But they are very mainstream. Check out the Billboard charts and you will hear those songs twice an hour. NB, with branches in Hongdae, Kangnam, and Apgujeong, is probably the most popular, but it gets ridiculously packed and for no reason, because it plays the same stuff the other clubs play.
Then there are the clubs that GIs go to, which means there's actually black people in the club. Stompers in hongdae is one of them, and the music is different from the pure mainstream, but I I wouldn't say it's "good". but i don't really like hiphop, so i can't say. but it's not like underground or backpacker hiphop if that's what you want. it's still mainly rap about spinners and chains and whatnot. I went to a club in Daegu, of all places, that was the blackest club i've been to in Korea
oh, and some times BarNana plays some underground hiphop, depending on who's the DJ. |

hip hop club...pick up rock...throw rock...
there are the big clubs such as nb, harlem. screw those.
Thre are mid-size more underground clubs...cargo comes to mind.
In almost every area that are also small sized basement clubs. They usually play more mainstream hip hop but they seem to be incredibly fun generally. |
