On the 26th of December, I thought I would buy my girlfriend some perfume from the US for her birthday in mid January. That was enough time for the perfume to get here I thought.
It wasnt. It didnt arrived. After chasing the "powerseller" of the item, I was told that I would not get a refund for the lost item. In the words of the seller...
"The Post Office told me they will not refund for items shipped to South Korea, they say there is too much customs fraud."
Is this true? Or is the seller BSing me? |

My GF lost a care package sent to her here. It was sent in early November and never arrived. So I can believe that mail sent from outside Korea isn't exactly safe from mail handlers realizing that something valuable is there and things becoming 'lost'... |

The USPS is not going to replace something unless you had insurance on it (which I doubt your "powerseller" bought). They'll claim that it's out of their responsibility when it reaches Korean soil, which is a pretty legit claim.
I've had a ton of stuff sent to me, and have received all of it that I knew was sent.
I've heard more of people have problems because packages are left outside their apartments and someone takes them. Where do you live? I live in an officetel and the ajosshi security guards keep all packages locked in a closet and then tell us when they have arrived. |

That same dumb thing happens in New Zealand and England too.I think that's how most things go missing.Instead of leaving a card so you can pick it up later they'll just leave it on the step. |

Does the seller have proof that he/she actually mailed the product? I've had more than one company tell me that perfumes can no longer be mailed through U.S. mail, as they contain alcohol and are considered a hazard under the latest postal regs. Demeter Fragrances even said they could ship to my Korean address via UPS without a problem (other than cost), but could not send products via mail to either my Korean address or my husband's APO address. |

The second week of January I had meds sent to me with al lthe labels and a new pr of Nike's.. Sent global priority. I finally contacted US Embassy who contacted customs ..who also called me several times..and the post office in San Fran where it got sent out from...
turns out..even though it was destined for Seoul..PO in San Fran made an error and sent it to Narita where it sat..until PO did a trace...They immediately sent it to Seoul..and it got delivered to my apt two days later...so something can be done...Perhaps , one should check with the po in the state where it leaves the USA.
I have sent a computer to my son...care packages..everything ever sent to me, and by me ..arrived here in Korea. |
