I'm in Korea, and I've got a Toshiba Satellite A-45 S120. First, the hinges were very loose and wouldn't hold the screen in place, then they completely broke into fragments - the computer was on a small end table, and the screen dropped like 180 degrees ...)
I found on-line do-it-yourself instructions on how to fix the problem in 33 easy steps (before new hinges can be installed...) http://irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA45/Satellite-A45-remove-hinges-4.htm but I don't think I could get past step 3 with any degree of confidence...
Anyone know of a place around Seoul that does repairs of that type - and hopefully can speak some English (and isn't a major rip-off?...)
Actually, before that happened, I was concerned about a very thin (maybe one pixel wide) vertical white (sometimes yellow...) line that runs down the center of the screen. It started appearing about a week ago, but I have no idea if it's related to the hinge problem... |
