What's your gut reaction to seeing a Public Display of Affection?
Ick. Tie the couple together in a vat of boiling oil.

On my way home from Itaewon I had to endure a Public Display Of Affection. Ick Exclamation

Sitting next to me was a young couple. He started by nuzzling her cheek, then moved on to full frontal smootching. She even made little 'uh-uh-uh' sounds with each punch of the button when she was texting someone while Boyfriend was nuzzling her cheek. (I watched the whole show in the reflection of the window.) They only rode for 2 stops, so I didn't have to move.

I don't consider myself a prude, but I just don't see the point of sticking your tongue down your girlfriend's throat while riding the subway. I can see it at the airport before/after a long separation, but that's about the only time and public place I can think of when it's appropriate.

It made me nostalgic for the mid 90's when there were ZERO public displays of affection. (One student said there was no kissing before marriage and darn little after. That's taking things too far, but...)

Later, at Shindang I was riding the escalator up and saw a couple coming down. This woman was standing behind her guy, draped over his shoulders, playing with his chin with one hand and tickling his nipple with the other.

How do you feel when you see PDOA?

Sounds like a bunch of guys who aren't getting any (and please don't say your married cause that means even less sex) and need to either get some or head to Thailand to alleviate your needs and leave us young lovers alone.

who cares. it doesn't affect you. look the other way and stop wearing your lack of vagina-to-*beep* contact on your sleeve.

wow, check this out. you can say vagina but not peeeenisss. weird. is one more pornographic than the other?

Funny. I've never seen anyone kissing in public here in Taegu. Not even once.

Well I gotta say, It would be somewhat heartwarming. Two people in love, or at least in lust, what am I to complain. Their affection doesn't come in conflict with my life so why should I feel bothered by it. The fact that other people are enjoying themselves without hurting others seems a good thing to me.

(oh and octavius, for the record I am married, and quite happy to see others enjoying each other Very Happy )

You need one more poll option:

Sickening in Korea, barely noticeable in the west.

Yeah, PDA weirds me out here because it's so rare, but back in the states...it's background noise.

I don't mind people displaying their love/ lust for one another in public. If you love one another that's fantastic. However, I do agree that people should have the decently of setting limits. Holding hands, arms around each other, kissing (even with affection) is fine. However, basically performing a soft core porn with their clothes on is going a little too extreme.

For those who just can't contain themselves, there are plenty of convienient places such as DVD or Norae bangs where you can get straight to the point.

As for the "if it doesn't affect you" argument. Well, I guess I people watching soft core porn movies on their portable video players, or rubbing their genetals if they see a really attractive person shouldn't bother you either. After all, their actions don't affect your life in anyway.

I've got to say the extent of PDA makes a huge difference. Holding hands, hugging, kissing in such a way that I can't HEAR it: sweet. Full-on tongue action kissing, fondling, etc. in public: nauseating.

I've noticed that the people most disgusted by PDA are usually the ones that are most lonely. When I'm single and have no one to go home to, I'd like to dip 'em in hot oil.

But, when I have someone.. it doesn't bother me. I don't like to just sit around and stare, but i don't worry about it.

To each his own.

There's no option in your poll for 'get on the bone and salaciously stare.' So, I can't vote.
