For more information about the contest, see here.
After five months of the board's best photographers sharing their best, it's time to pick the top shots. When we did this last time, I picked a small team of photography/art-minded posters, some then current & ex-mods, and Dave Sperling. But this time, let's try something new.
I've selected "Finalist" images for our two "In Korea" and "Outside Korea" categories. I've chosen them from the hundreds of submissions based on two main criteria:
1. ratings
2. number of views
Because these criteria skews things to early entrants over later ones, I've given special consideration to more recent entries. I've tried to be fair.
I have not selected an image from every entrant, though I've made some attempt to get as many different posters as I could. I've also tried not to have two images in a category from one entrant - if I've done so, let me know and I'll zap one. This was especially difficult for a number of posters with a large number of excellent images - in this case, I used the page views and ratings as my guide.
I've reset the "ratings" and "number of views" to zero for these finalist images.
Now what?
We'll pick winners the same way. Go visit the album. If you've participated by uploading, you can "rate" an image. You can also add comments to these images, as well as the old ones. This "ratings" data will be the primary way to select the winner - but not the only way. Click away - you can rate as many times as you wish, though you can only rate each image once.
Everyone else - we need your help too. Though you can't "rate" or "comment", your page views will be recorded, and these will be taken into account when we do the final tally. Also, comments in this thread referencing a photo will be considered too.
Go look, and go click! The more data we get, the more meaningful our results.

Oh yeah- almost forgot - IF YOU'RE A PARTICIPANT YOU NEED TO LOG IN TO THE GALLERY TO RATE.

I think there were so many good photos on the site, it must have been difficult to choose a few. I think Jinju must have at least a couple worth making the finals (his boat picture was to me representative of a practice familar to most Koreans IMO). |
