I have an interview with Poly School Ilsan.
Can anyone help:
Reputation of the Poly Schools?
Is Ilsan the same as Ulsan?
Climate (is it more moderate) being by the coast?
Anyone teach at this specific school with information?
Thank you to all. |

I had job offers from Poly schools (can't recall which ones they were), but turned them all down. Their work hours and schedules are very shady. When I raised some questions about work hours and schedules, they couldn't quite explain it very clearly. Just lotta "Uh, yeah, ok, but, get it?" And I said "I don't get it" and turned it down.
My guess about Poly schools is that you have to bust your butt (weird long hours) and if you're newbie you'll have very difficult time. |

I work in Ilsan and have met a few of the Ilsan Poly teachers. Ilsan is not the same as Ulsan. Ulsan is on the coast, Ilsan is a 15 minute drive outside of Seoul.
The teachers I met all seemed somewhat content with working there. They didn't devulge any nightmare stories.
The Poly schools as a whole tend to work their teachers very hard. |

Nope. Ilsan is part of the satellite city of Goyang, northwest of Seoul. Ulsan is an industrial city in Gyeongsannamdo, about 300 miles southeast of Seoul. |

Jack (or anyone else):
Since you work in Ilsan, what is the best way to travel from there to Seoul? Subway? Bus? Other?
Thank you. |

| You can take the bus from Sincheon/Hongdae, Gangnam or Gwanghwamun, or take line 3 on the subway. |

The last few stops on line three are all for Ilsan, Jeongbalsan being by LaFesta, which is the rib-joint, restaurant, bar, and shopping district of Ilsan. |

Thank you all for your help. Having read through all the threads regarding POLY and trying to see where the objective information lies, I am seriously thinking of taking their offer.
I had a very good interview and have a choice between Ilsan or Mokdong middle school students.
Thanks again for all of your input. |

Mokdong is a nice area. They have a TGI Fridays and it is not far from a Costco.

| I think it's more of a professional atmosphere to work in, however, every Poly teacher I know has lamented the fact that they're friends have easier jobs, and more time/energy left to do privates and make more cash. |

| It all depends on which POLY school. I liked the one I worked at and found report cards to be a lot easier than other hagwons' (like YES). Mine was nice but I did hear horror stories about the amount of work from other POLYs. |
