By popular demand (well maybe just voices in my head...) I'm providing a link to the "Gallery" page of the "Krishna-Korea" website - and a slide-show of their bhakt-yoga events at various places around Seoul.

I've actually only attended one of their programs, but I can be seen in a few of the slides (and am featured in slides #6 and #17...) The day I came, they were commemorating the publishing of the first Hangul translation of Bhagavad-gita As It Is by the group's Korean devotee president. I was one of several speakers - including Korean and Indian professors - who gave fairly brief talks on various themes, including Indian influences on Korean culture...

The event was held at the "I Love Yoga" center in Sinsa (where the group regularly meets on the second and fourth Sundays of each month for an afternoon program (usually from 1 to 3:30...) As can be gathered from viewing the slides, most of the attendees are migrant workers from India and Bangladesh, along with some Koreans who are interested in bhakti yoga - and a few Americans, Russians, Canadians, etc...

There were about 70 people there the day I went, and - because it was a special occasion - they had a nice full-course Indian vegetarian dinner afterward for all the guests (free, but donations accepted, I'm sure...) I complimented the Bengali cooks who prepared the excellent feast, and they informed me that they plan to open a vegetarian Indian restaurant in Itaewon in the near future...

Anyway, it's an example of some cultural diversity that's taking root in Korea (at least in the greater Seoul area...) Probably the next time I'll attend is on a major festival day (Gaura Purnima...) coming up the first weekend in March - when they'll be sure to have another big vegetarian dinner, which, of course, is the main attraction for me - as evidenced by how fat I've gotten. (I vaguely recall the old days when I'd be so absorbed in ecstactic kirtan - chanting - that I'd sometimes forget to eat...

BTW, this slide show is so long (196 pics...) that even I only made it about half-way through it...http://www.krishnakorea.com/slideshow.html
