I'm going to NZ for spring break taking 3 million won home. Should I change my won to American travellers cheques? Or just American dollars to convert to NZ dollars when I arrive home? I figure either way is better than doing a money transfer from Korea. Advice appreciated...

Also I depart this Saturday night. Will the traffic between Gyeongido and Incheon be terrible cos of Lunar New Year- should I leave home earlier than usual?

By the time you pay the comission fees to exchange twice, I think its probably about the same as just wiring the money home. And much less hassle.

I would allot some extra time for traffic. Saturday every single Korean will be on the road. If you get to the airport early, just go have a drink and chill out. No big deal. Getting to the airport late REALLY sucks though. Is it possible for you take a train/subway and avoid the roads? At least you won't really hit any delays on the train.

The airport will probably be rather busy as well because a lot of people are going on vacation during Seollal, which is followed by public school spring break.
