So with Vlad the impaler's comments about how American foreign policy is fueling a cold war arms race, American officials rather than acknowleding this point, have taken to using rhetoric and throwing around scary terms--- an entirely out of character thing to do for the Bush admin...
But as the CNN quick vote 'unscientifically shows' most people seem to agree with Putin's assessment.
Who and when the 'first' cold war started are contentious and rigorously debated issues among historians, but can and will there be any doubt about who is responsible for Part two, should it come in to being? I don't think so. |

There was no cold war. As such, there can't be a reproduction of it. |

Nope.
Are you going to sit there with your outrage or are you going to say something?
And I went to a perfectly fine college, sir. The odds are against you having more political thought cred.
I was not instructed that there was no cold war. I heard the hypothesis presented in extracurricular reading, evaluated it, and then found it fit nicely with a number of other beliefs I had, supported by empirical evidence.
So please, if you are so incredulous, do ask a question. |

Sincinnatislink: please be specific. Who told you the Cold War never existed? And do tell what you think happened between 1945 and 1990.
(I already know what position you are going to ape here. Just want to be sure.) |

I think the thing to do would be to check on the definition of the Cold War..... seriously. |

Just what I thought: another conspiracy nutcase trapped in a world of circumstantial "who-would-have-benefitted?" logical constructs.
Nice meeting you, chief. |

The right answer is "nobody," jackass.
Fear is useful for maintaining power. Both the governments of the Soviet Union and the United States had far too much to lose to even think about a nuclear war. There's more to it than this, but I'd like to hear individual questions from here. |

And it's not a conspiracy.
It just happened that way.
And you just finally got me to cite something with Chomsky's name on it.

Quote: |
Although the model was based mainly on the characterization of United States media, Chomsky and Herman believe the theory is equally applicable to any country that shares the basic economic structure and organizing principles which the model postulates as the cause of media biases.

Ah, Chomsky. The very name evokes images of spewage on liberals' shoes. I like that, "It just happened that way", empirical evidence.
Now tell me, einstein, was it because of all the money involved that both countries had a massive nuclear (or as W would say, nukler) build up? And another question for your deeply shrouded "theory"...Did the governments of the US and USSR get together over a game of poker and some vodka shots and decide to play this trick on the world so they could stay in power? Do you really believe that things work that way? Have you been watching some Oliver Stone movies lately? What's your take on the 1969 lunar landing? Real or staged? Was Patton the victim of an accident or was he assassinated? Was someone on the grassy knoll shooting JFK? Hey, here's a recent one...what happened to Anna Nicole Smith? Who made her assume room temperature? And what about that damned Bermuda Triangle? Did I hear you mention something about black helicopters? |

Give the guy a break. He is obviously a recent university graduate. What do you expect? Sanity? Logic? |

If you're just going to accuse me of conspiracy theories, go for it.
It shows me that you haven't seriously considered Herman and Chomsky's propaganda model. It isn't a conspiracy theory. It's a side effect of capitalism and liberal democracy.

no.

Not a fan.

It was pretty. It's sad Neil Armstrong got that far and then fucked up his preset first words.
real.

No idea what you're talking about. Please assassinate my character for my ignorance.

Beats me. I don't have a good answer.

You mean, besides a severely stressed person with a poor medical history dying?
Quote: |
Who made her assume room temperature?
|
Probably being at room temperature.

I hear Bermuda's pretty this time of year. It's easy to get lost sailing over long stretches of water, especially when you're going to tiny little islands.

Nope. I have a secondhand citation that there is a low-flying country surveillance facility in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. But that's neither here nor there. On-the-record confirmations from Sarah McLendon and Harvey Perrett III. It costs 3 billion annually.
Anything else?
Perhaps talk about something we were talking about? |

Ladies and gentlemen I present for your consideration a new poster: Sincinnatislink.
Sincinnatislink has likely very recently graduated the indoctrination school that some call "education" and has internalized and indeed slaved himself to Chomsky's worldview. He will now chastise us "non-thinkers" for not having done this while at the same time masquerading Chomsky's views as his own "alternative," original thinking...
Impressive. Never seen that before. |
