I've been told now there are two ways of doing this.

1. Show my visa, her passport and my marriage certificate at the consulate in BKK.

2. Wife comes to Korea on a tourist visa and converts her tourist visa to an F3.

Which one is easiest for her.

Is she going to be hassled by wankers at immigration if she flies in on a tourist visa?

Nice and simple steps then can a MOD sticky it please. I'm getting driven mad over this.

at my office whenever we apply for the f3 visa for the spouses of our employees, we have to submit the following documents to the immigration office.
1. copy of passport
2. copy of marriage certificate (unless the person is from india or china, then the original is necessary)
3. 2 color photos (passport size)
4. application form (available from immigration office)
5. copy of employed spouse's alien registration id card

after submitting those documents, a few days later the immigration office sends me the "Visa Issuance Number". then i inform the applicant of that number, they go to the Embassy or Consulate and submit another application form (on which they include the "number") and their passport. the actual visa is then issued a couple days later.

that's the process we do if the person is not already in korea.

we have once before changed the visa of a spouse, who was already in korea, from a tourist visa to a f3. this was done by going to the immigration office and submitting all the same documents as above and they changed the visa that same day.
so it is a bit easier to change the visa once the person is already in korea. but getting a tourist visa to enter korea can be difficult depending on the nationality of your spouse. the immigration office won't change a transit visa into a f3 visa.

My spouse is Thai.

So if she gets a tourist visa from the consulate she will then be able to fly in and get it changed.

If she comes in on a visa on arrival she can't

Right then

That's good enough for me.

I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
