Confused

Alright, I know I know....another god damned thread about girls.

I just don't get it.

I meet a girl and she acts like she's into me. I get her number and ask her out on a date and I get, "we should only be friends, I don't want a boyfriend now but I want to be your GOOD friend."

I'm a nice guy, I'm not bad lookin.

but this happened to me with at least the last 5 girls I've met.

I dont' get it.

Try girls that don't go to arcades?

Ok, sorry, I have nothing constructive to say. Well, except you've called them for a date after one meeting? Am I right?

Irons in the fire, mate...irons in the fire.

Keep working on 'em.

They probably have a boyfriend or two that are fizzling out, or just beginning, and they just want you around until they figure out what to do.

I have a rule: if she won't make Friday and/or Saturday nights available for me, then she is instantly relegated to "just for fun" or "friends" status. I don't take such a girl seriously, because it means she's juggling boys.

And let me tell you, this is exactly how it works with Koreans who date the foreigner population.

It's less of a big deal to give your number out in Korea for some reason so don't get too excited. Korean woman on the whole are pretty fickle and superficial, and lots of them juggle men. You should play a big numbers game to finally land a good one...

Yep! Almost everyday I get numbers from girls that end up in trash can. Only selected few is enough. I hate jugglin.

Satori's exactly right. Maybe the signals you're getting from these girls are culture-based. So she gave you her number. No big deal. So she'll go to a movie with you. She still isn't expressing interest in you. In my experience, girls are more comfortable dating guys they've known for a comfortable while.

CA,

As Racetraitor mentioned, I believe you ought to spend 'ample' time with these girls before they'll date you. Sure, there are the bar hoowas, but not dating material. Keep friendship with them (irons in the fire) and when something occurs...stoke the fires.

BTW, my <Korean> wife concurs....know them a 'comfortable' while first.

Similar deal here in Thailand. Girls are a lot less fussy when it comes to giving out numbers, but that's the easy bit! After that, it's a case of testing each girl to ascertain what her agenda is.

After two years of lunatics, whores, virgins and bores, I finally met my
g/f via MySpace. She's Thai, but spent time in the states and thinks like a Westerner! She's lovely and I'm gonna miss her.

So my advice would be not to sweat these girls who try and play with you. You're James Bond remember? They should be lucky to be near you!!!!

Puff out your chest, dust the lint off your shoulder, narrow your eyes and move in for the next kill.

Trent: You know what? Youre like a big bear with claws, with fangs-
Sue: Big fucking teeth, man.
Trent: with big fucking teeth on you. And shes just like this little bunny, just kind of cowering in the corner-
Sue: Shivering!
Trent: Yeah, man. You got these claws, and youre staring at these claws, man, and youre thinkin how am I supposed to kill this bunny.
Sue: Youre pokin at it. Youre pokin at it.
Trent: Yeah, youre not hurting it. Youre just gently battin the bunny around. You know what I mean? The bunnys scared, Mike. The bunnys scared of you.
Sue: And you got these fucking claws, man.
Trent: You got these fucking claws and these fangs, man. And youre looking at your claws and youre lookin at your fangs and youre thinkin to yourself, I dont know what to do, man. I dont know how to kill the bunny. With this, I dont know how to kill the bunnies, man."
Sue: Youre like a big bear, man.

This is probably one of the main reasons why any decent Korean girl would be apprehensive of getting close to a foreigner.

Some interesting takes.

I have noticed that one of the first question girls seem to ask me is, "how long are you planning to stay in Korea?"

I met this girl at a party and she seems like a nice, good girl. Uni student, been abroad a bit, into art a bit, pretty but no lame princess vibe. It's a rare occassion to actually meet a girl like this so I'm trying to play cool....but I'm really not cool.

The signs seemed to be there. Met her at a party, she came up to me and introduced herself to me...told me she noticed me when I came in earlier. Talked a lot, danced a bit, exchanged phone numbers, when with some friends to another place after the party was finished.

Guess, I'll do the good friend thing and see how it goes and maybe after she feels more comfortable something will happen and if not, oh well.
