weatern age that is. Reading ability ranges from not spectacular to not terrible. A bit short on past tense, so I'm guessing no future tense knowledge. They seem to understand the S-V-O concept.

Any ideas for a book or books?

I generally like the Oxford readers. Here's a partial list for all different levels. You'll probably need to spend some times reading through them to find the right level for your students.
