I recently got myself a new Duo02core with Korean windows. It does not include office, so I was wondering if anyone might now where I can get a version in English. Also, are versions downloadable from torrent sites trustworthy? I'd hate to get a virus. TIA.

Worry more about attracting the attention of MS.

OK, that was a concern too. How much do you think a legit version would cost me?

The home edition runs for about $130 on Amazon.com. Not a bad price in the long run, considering you'll use it for years. I use Office 2002. That's 5 years old. I've never had a reason to upgrade, as a home user.

Check out first Open Office, however. Free download.

Amazon won't ship software, games, or most hardware internationally due to licensing issues.

The cheapest place I have found for MS software is http://www.pronetsoft.co.kr/

My "friend" is using a perfectly good version of MS Office 2007 (Eng) and he didn't pay a dime for it. Nor did he have to drag his ass to Yongsan to find a copy in English.

Really, unless you have moral issues, or are worried about being traced by Bill Gates' goons, then just get it off a torrent site.

Lots of "Beta" versions (RCs) out there that will expire, or have already. Do be careful going for the latest and greatest on the networks. Protect yourself as best you can.

i've got an MS office question:

why is it that every time i type the word "ryan" in word or excel or in some korean type office program that is installed at work these programs decide to change it into korean script? eg. "교무". it only happens with 'ryan' and i have to change back to english, but the name "ryan" just won't appear.

ps. i still haven't figured out why firefox keeps changing my keyboard layout from 'qwerty' to 'dvorak'

MS will let you try it for 60 days. Would be worth doing that and seeing if you like it before shelling out any money.
