is anyone elso having slow service
when accessing non-korean websites
like yahoo with their mac computers.
what's funny is that when i use my mac
with the server at my university it works ok,
but at home with my KT n-topia,
it slows down considerably
when i try to access sites back home.
i'm thinking this is mac specific,
cuz when the tech guy came to do a
speed check with a pc, foreign sites opened
much quicker than my mac did...
any ideas?

My mac is WAY slower here than back home... it's almost (but not quite) as slow as the 10 year old desktops at work.

I have the same problem with my mac. Not all sites, but quite a few are very slow. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I had no problems (I've been using a mac in Korean for about 2 years). I have no idea why it's so slow now.

hey "hisnhers",

what internet service do you have?
do you have KT, ntopia or another KT service?
cuz my mac problem also started about 2-3 weeks ago.

i also saw that thread about how kt (my isp) contacted someone about downloading illegally and the thread went on to possibly suggest that the long arm of US copyrights have crossed the pacific.

maybe something related.

I have KT lite, and I've had lots of problems lately connecting to foreign sites...But then when I go to the Korean speedtest website, it says my download connection is 4Mb/sec or whatever 400 Kb/sec is....

I dunno..I want to switch, but I'm not sure what my options are for this area (Haebongcheon/Itaewon).

Hey, I have KT lite service. But it only seems to be some websites and my actual downloads are pretty fast, so I have no idea what's going on.
