This is taken from another thread (http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=77635&start=0) but it deserves its own topic.

As I said there, one of my friends was hanging out in Hongdae and nearby was a motorbike with a big Swastika on it. The owner, a Korean, came back and apparently saw a scratch on it. He blamed my friend, who denied it. So he pulled out an axe and chased my friend away. Guess which one spent the night in a jail cell.

This weekend some other guys got a picture of the scooter in question. Have a look.

I take it as a compliment. I mean, we're white, right? Maybe the guy is just trying to show us he respects whites and sees us as superior.

Wait. So it shows he likes white people, thinks we are superior, and wishes to be enslaved by us? Or he thinks Koreans are the superior race, and should adopt the swastika and Nazi ideals? It doesn't really make much sense, does it, for a Korean to have that on his bike! Maybe he thinks it looks cool. He does seem to be making a statement with it. Whichever one of those reasons... is... just... strange... maybe it was sold to him by the owner of that Nazi themed bar.... and he doesn't know what all the symbols mean! Laughing

Now THAT is some weird logic!

Hmmmm.... It seems to me that it is merely a form of free speech. If the guy wants a "Nazi bike" then, he has a right to have one. What's your beef? If you don't want one then don't have one, simple as that!

I wonder why the punks in 1970's Britain used the Nazi symbolism? To upset the older generation? Sid Vicious was certainly not a right-wing political theorist! He wouldn't have known what that was!!

Well, if you're gonna be a Nazi about it, go right ahead. It would go to show that the individual w/ the Nazi bike is probably a more law abiding upstanding citizen than yourself! Very Happy

Its a form of free speech!!

I bet my bike would get torched in a day.

Come on people, let's stop calling it a 'bike'. It's a scooter. Do you take somebody with a scooter seriously? Especially a family sized scooter Laughing .

Anybody know why scooters are like fat chicks?

Don't worry, I was only joking. I know a few other Koreans who have national socialist beliefs. They have this idea that cultures should be isolated and human migration should be discouraged. They fail to make the link between Nazism and white supremacism.

Considering he carries an axe around with him, that's very unlikely.
