|
|
One of my 2nd year middle school student is going to enrol at an international school here in korea(and next year China) and has to take an admissions test...
His mom is worried he will fail so wants to know what kind of questions will be on the test...
So does anyone have a site or access to a site document that shows what questions to expect or if anyone can give me the general idea of how hard these questions could be i would be very grateful... |

| They need a score of 105 in TOEFL. Ivy League schools require 100. |

105/130 is about 26/30 on each of the four sections: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. It's pretty tough to get that kind of score unless you're a very high level speaker or your first language is English. |

You're probably think of TOEIC. That's the one that goes up to like a thousand. |

995 is the highest, yep. TOEIC only has reading and listening sections and are pretty common in Korea and Japan for many companies. TOEIC's not as widely known outside of Asia. |

Yeah, i was thinking of TOEIC...seemed very low.
If that is the case this boy is screwed....he is very bright and has a great drive to study and enjoys english but to attain that score is on the impossible.
Still doesn't answer my question however...
Does anyone know where i can find the sort of questions that will be asked or have any idea??? |

It really depends on the International School itself.
I worked for a new international school that made the tests up themselves. This was in China.
It was really a mickey-mouse outfit and entrance test, if the truth be known. If it is a reputable school, it will be accredited by various top of the line accreditation mobs.
I think it all comes down to money. If the school needs money to survive, like most of them do, they will accept pretty much any child as long as they have the funds for tuition, etc.
If you need more info on the paticular schools they are thinking of, send me a pm. |
