So the KT guy came to my house to fix my internet problem. He told me that the internet is fine, it is the computer. So I took the computer in and got it checked out and they said there was no problem with it.
SO the KT guy comes back and checks the internet again. He tell me that KT has updated their servers and my lan card in my computer doesn't comply with their updates.
My girlfriend got super pissed at the KT guy and said " you know this is KT's problem and they should buy me a new lan card"
KT looked like a deer in headlights and said "ummm no but KT is sorry"
So I had to go out and buy a new lan card. It was not expensive but it was the principle of the thing.
To the people having internet problems hope this helps. |

I completely fail to understand how your girlfriend came to this conclusion.
A part of your computer has become obsolete. You have to update computers from time to time. She wants the internet provider to upgrade her computer!!! |

It's fair enough you should upgrade the lan card. BUT
I've had that same line from KT service guys on more than one occasion. It's their standard response for problems they don't know how to fix, (not in your case), but it is annoying to hear. |

KT tech guys are useless.
I've been having probs with KT at home AND at work (connect-disconnect-connect-disconnect etc). A buddy of mine in a different city has crap service with KT. So what's the problem?
Well, it depends on the techie you get...They'll look around the house and try to find anything to blame it on (since average Koreans seem to know jack shit about anything technical/mechanical...at least when it comes to stuff around the house).
Me: Yeah...my connection keeps droppng out.
KT Techie: <glances at my computer> It's your computer.
Me: Er...No, I don't think so. It's brand new and we tested the internet speed at the shop just before I brought it home. It worked fine then.
KT Techie: Er...Your refigerator is too close to your kitchen table.
My girlfriend: Thank you. We'll move the fridge out to the balcony. Will that help?
KT Techie: That should do it.
Me: Er...Baby...can you please tell the techie that he is full of crap? It is NOT the fridge causing the internet problems.
Girlfriend: But he is a KT technician. He knows about these things. You're not a technician.
Me: Well, I'm not a technician, but I'm not an idiot either. I mean, I am fairly certain, even without special KT training, that neither the fridge, nor the table, are related to our internet service. But I'm just an English teacher...
KT Techie: Also, your socks are the wrong color.
Me: Er....What?
KT Techie: You should try different color socks. Your socks are disrupting the internet connection.
Me: Are you sure it's not you guys? I mean, I have problems here, the computer is new, I have problems at work with KT and quite a few of my friends have been unhappy with their KT service lately...So?
KT Techie: So....what?
Me: So isn't it possible that the problem could be with you guys?
KT Techie: Why do you think that?
Me; I just told you why I think that!
Girlfriend: Don't get angry, he is just doing his job.
Me: Yeah...if his job is professional retard.
KT Techie: Anyway...move the fridge and change your socks. That's the problem.
Me: Somebody please just shoot me in the head.
KT Techie: WOuld youlike a 'Dokdo is ours!' wallpaper for your computer?
Me: Right in the temple...I think that will be fastest... |

so went to shop to get new lan card. Computer shop guy checked my lan card with his KT line and he said everything was fine. So brought it home and still same problem. Anyway computer shop guy came to my house and informed me the KT guy is full of crap as well as KT. He gave me a universal thingie and now internet works fine.
Why does the leading company in korea have so many techs that don't know what they are doing? |

Could you expand on the 'universal thingy'? I've been having the same problems as you, and about as much luck with the KT Tech guys too. They changed a 'switching box' or something else in the basement of the building, which seemed to help for a while, but recently, the problem's resurfaced.
Would appreciate any help on identifying this 'universal thingy' that solved your problem...
Cheers! |

What have your internet problems been? Connecting to websites? That's been my problem off and on for the last weekish or so...
What's the universal thing? Is it what the dsl line plugs into after it comes out from the wall? |

So you can connect on Neptune.
KT have also been known to tell people they cannot connect because their version of Windows is in English. |

At least you use Windows. Try getting a tech to fix THEIR problem when you own a Mac. They see the mac and it is automatically your computer's problem, never theirs. And in my experience, they are always 100% wrong. |
